Purpose
Farmers face increasing pressure from climate challenges, market volatility and rising expectations around transparency, efficiency and environmental stewardship. The Livestock Hub was developed to provide data-led insights to support meeting some of these challenges – providing farmers and ABP with deadweight performance, carcass results, grading consistency and group level benchmarking.
Action
As ABP’s central digital livestock platform, the Livestock Hub provides farmers with key metrics that are key to monitoring the value and performance of their beef and sheep enterprises. The online platform provides instant and detailed information on animals processed through ABP sites, including weight, conformation, fat score, and post mortem conditions, as well all remittance and financial information.
More recently, post-mortem conditions in carcasses have been added to help farmers prevent issues relating to disease risk, biosecurity or herd health management .
Alongside individual farm results, farmers can compare their performance against aggregated anonymised data from the wider ABP supply base. The information allows farmers to make informed evidence based decisions around nutrition, genetics and finishing targets.
Impact
The Livestock Hub is already delivering significant benefits for both farmers and ABP. For farmers, the platform provides clear data and valuable insights. Instead of relying on anecdotal comparison or guesswork, they have access to concrete evidence on how their livestock are performing in relation to others, which can inform targeted adjustments.
The platform is also strengthening animal welfare and environmental performance. By enabling more precise management, farmers can reduce days on farm, improve feed efficiency and minimise waste across the production cycle.
For ABP, the Hub enhances supply chain consistency and transparency. Because farmers can see exactly how their cattle are grading, variability reduces over time, supporting higher quality and more reliable supply to customers.
Looking ahead, the Livestock Hub will continue to expand to ensure it continues to act as a key tool for our farmers as well as providing valuable insights into our ABP supply chain.
