Purpose
As conversations about nutrition, sustainability and responsible consumption evolve, there is an increasing need for clear, science based guidance to help people understand what constitutes a balanced diet. The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) provides this information through its comprehensive, evidence led advice.
At ABP, we align with AHDB’s guidance to reinforce the importance of nutrient dense whole foods, including fresh red meat, as part of a balanced, varied diet. This work is central to our commitment to transparency, responsible consumption and the wellbeing of the communities we serve.
Action
ABP works closely with retailers, foodservice partners and health communication experts to ensure the role of fresh red meat is presented accurately and responsibly, in line with AHDB guidance. Our educational materials, nutrition focused campaigns and community facing communications help people understand how red meat can contribute to a balanced diet.
The AHDB framework emphasises moderation, nutrient density and quality – principles that naturally align with ABP’s high quality, sustainability and welfare-focused products.
ABP also supports industry wide efforts to translate AHDB’s evidence into clearer public understanding. We have provided product expertise for cooking and nutrition programmes, collaborated on farm to fork educational outreach and supported retailer health campaigns.
In parallel, ABP continues to invest in sustainability initiatives that align the production of beef and lamb with evolving expectations of sustainable diets.
Impact
AHDB’s healthy and sustainable diet guidance has strengthened the understanding of how fresh red meat can contribute to balanced eating patterns. ABP’s alignment with those principles enables us to play an active and responsible role in this conversation.
For communities, the work offers clear, science based reassurance that foods enjoyed for generations continue to have an important role in modern, health conscious lifestyles. Fresh red meat remains a key source of bioavailable iron – a particularly important attribute for young people and women – alongside essential minerals and high quality protein.
By supporting and amplifying this guidance, ABP helps communities make informed, confident food choices.
