We are delighted to see the return of the Flocks of the Future initiative for 2026, led by Irish Country Meats (ICM).
Following a strong response last year, the programme is once again open to young farmers aged 16 to 25 from across Ireland.
Successful applicants will receive a mini flock, including a five-star ram and five breeding hoggets, valued at more than €2,500. They will also receive one-to-one expert support and industry insight, along with a 20c per kg bonus on lambs supplied from the flock to ICM. The initiative is supported by Bord Bia, Teagasc and Sheep Ireland.

To apply, entrants must submit a short application outlining their plans for flock development and future ambitions. This includes a short video showcasing their farm and answering key questions on flock management, sustainability and how Irish Country Meats can support their success. Applicants must have access to a flock number.
Flocks of the Future continues to play an important role in supporting the next generation of sheep farmers and strengthening the sector’s long-term future.
The closing date for entries is 12th July 2026. Further details are available on the Irish Country Meats website.
