GroceryAid

Purpose
The UK food and grocery sector is built on the dedication of thousands of individuals – from farmers and drivers to factory teams, suppliers and colleagues in stores and distribution.
When these valuable workers face challenges such as financial instability, mental health strain, personal crisis or family hardship, the provision of fast, confidential and compassionate support can make a profound difference. GroceryAid, the industry’s leading charity, has provided that for more than 160 years.
ABP’s long standing support for GroceryAid reflects our belief that a sustainable business is one that cares for its people as much as its products.

Action
ABP UK supports GroceryAid through a mix of financial contributions, industry fundraising, colleague engagement and active promotion of the charity’s services across our sites.
Promotion is a vital part of the partnership. We want to ensure employees and industry peers are aware of the vital support available to them – whether they work on the line, in dispatch, in agriculture, in logistics or within our office teams. ABP signposts that GroceryAid is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, through posters, digital screens, internal communications and wellbeing campaigns.
In addition to awareness raising, ABP contributes financially to GroceryAid’s programmes, while participating in industry fundraising events and campaigns that help extend the charity’s reach.
As expectations around wellbeing continue to evolve, ABP has strengthened its focus on mental health awareness, cost of living pressures and resilience training – areas where GroceryAid complements our internal initiatives.

Impact
The impact of ABP UK’s partnership with GroceryAid is both deeply personal and widely felt. For individuals, it can be transformative. GroceryAid provides immediate, confidential assistance during moments of crisis, giving people the emotional, practical or financial support they need to regain stability.
For our broader workforce, the partnership sends a powerful message: that ABP values the wellbeing of its people and is committed to supporting them, not only in their working lives but in their personal lives too.
